Lela Genece Wiles Daulton, 75, of Somerset, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, surrounded by her husband and children.
Genece was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Argyle, Casey County, to the late Charlie A. and Armilda Wesley Thompson. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved her family, growing flowers, decorating her house, yard sales, making trips to Turkey Creek to the Amish every week and singing gospel music when she was able. She had bright blue eyes and an infectious smile known by many. Genece was saved at the Carter Ridge Baptist Church in her younger years and later became a member of the Clifty Road Baptist Church in Somerset, where her oldest son is pastor.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell Daulton, whom she married on Nov. 29, 2003, in Somerset; four children, Brother Randy (Mary) Wiles, Lela Deloris (David) Warren, Kimberly Wiles Puckett, all of Somerset, and Paul Allen (Jessica) Wiles of Science Hill; five stepchildren, Tim (Patty) Daulton, Travis (Kim) Daulton, Rita Faye (Clyde) Troxell, all of Somerset, Kathey (Bill) Irvin of Crab Orchard and Michael (Sandy) Daulton of the Hogue community; eight grandchildren, Amanda Jo Harshbarger, Gena Whitis, Rachel Williams, Joshua Warren, Marty Allen Wiles, April Lynn Wiles, Billy Joe Wiles and Dustin Madden; 17 great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Juritha (Ronald) Beshears, Norma Jean Coner, Faye (Dale) Hopper, Edna (Sonia) Burkhart, Donna Mink, Marsha (Tim) Chaney and Felicia (Don) Armstrong; two brothers, Ronnie (Kathy) Thompson and Merrell Thompson; a nephew like a brother, Marty (Vickie) Yaden; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Thompson and Vivian Thompson; two aunts; an uncle; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her church family; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Elza "Hoss" C Wiles, who passed away May 14, 1969; a daughter, Amy Elizabeth and her husband, Thomas Madden; a sister, Evelene Yaden; four brothers, Jerrell, Fred, James and Bennie Thompson; and several brothers-in-laws.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Melvin Sisson officiating. Burial follows in Carter Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation for Lela Genece Wiles Daulton begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Clifty Road Baptist Church Mission Program or Carter Ridge Cemetery.
