Mark Steven Ponder, 65, of Yosemite, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016. at UK Medical Center in Lexington.

Mark was born March 9, 1951, in Danville, to the late Marcus Taylor and Aline Coleman Ponder. He was the owner of Ponder

Construction in addition to being an operator for Mercer Transportation. Prior to this, he was a longtime employee of Ponder Pallet in Kings Mountain, a former manager at South Indiana Lumber Company in Henryville, Indiana; and a former partner with David T. Ponder in Ponder Logging.

Mark was an enthusiast of motorcycles, cars and antiques. The thing that stands out the most is Mark's passion for his family. He loved making others smile and was considered an "entertainer" by those who loved him most. He was a person who enjoyed life and spreading that joy to others.

Mark was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church and an active member of the Cushman Club.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Joe Morgan; a niece, Cynthia Ann Phillips; and a sister, Dale Ponder Helton, who passed seven years earlier on the same day, which provided peace for the family.

Mark is survived by his beloved daughter, Rhonda Elizabeth Taylor (Gary) of Munfordville; his significant other, Beverly Goff Drummond of Yosemite; two stepsons, Carey Lewis Mitchell (Trina) of Yosemite and Michael Neal Mitchell (Samantha) of Wynne, Arkansas; three stepgrandchildren, Ashtan Ryan, Danielle and Gracie Mitchell; a stepgreat-grandson, Lincoln Franks; two nephews, Glenn E. Phillips Jr. of Liberty and Richard L. Helton (Melanie) of Warner Robins, Georgia, whom looked to Mark as a father figure.

The funeral was held a Friday, July 8, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Willow Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Glen Phillips Jr., David T. Ponder, Richard Helton, Carey Mitchell, Larry Burton and Phillip Randolph. Honorary

Pallbearers were Eli and Patrick Wesley and Steven Garrett.
