Robert Darrel Hatter, 71, of Kingston, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 19, 1946, in Casey County to William "Bill" and Elaine Mushin Hatter. On April 19, 1966, he married the former Mary Alice Dalton, who preceded him in death Jan. 17, 1997.

Darrel was owner and operator of the former Hatter Business Equipment. He was in the typewriter business for more than 35 years. He loved playing the guitar, singing and enjoyed riding his scooter and talking with people around Kingston. Darrel was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a collector of die cast cars and motorcycles, and he loved old cars.

He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Hatter; his mother and stepfather, Elaine and Glen Johnson; a brother, Michael Hatter; and a special friend, Rob Greer.

Survivors include a daughter, Ginger (Steve) Johnson, of Chillicothe, Ohio; and a son, Shane (Tina) Hatter, of Circleville, ohio; five grandchildren, Courtney and Rachel Congrove, Drew and Abby Hatter and Luke Johnson; four brothers, Greg and Larry Johnson, both of Sanford, and Jerry and Leonard Johnson; close aunts, Carolyn and Faye; special neighbors; and best friend, his companion King.

A graveside service was. Sunday, Feb. 25, in Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Ric McConnell officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Ware Funeral Home.
