Thomas Jay Price, 59, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Jean Waddle Care Center.
Born Sept. 26, 1959 in Liberty, Jay was the son of the late James "Jug" Price and Daisy Cain (Lloyd) Short.
Jay graduated from Casey County High School in 1977. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and a Master's Degree from Western Kentucky University. He was a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. He served as a vocational agriculture teacher and the FFA advisor at Casey County High School for 27 years. He touched many lives over the years and was a mentor to many of his former students. He was involved in several county and state organizations where he had a role in developing educational programs for Casey County Farmers. He had a true passion for teaching and farming. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, popa, brother and friend.
Jay is also survived by his wife whom he wed on July 5, 1980, Carol McAninch Price, two daughters: Lauren (Brian) Johnson and Lindsay (Jon) Keen, both of Liberty, brother: Eddie Price, of Liberty, three sisters: Jill (Bruce) Smith, of Hustonville, Jan Thomas, of Somerset and Debbie (John) Wentzell, of Columbia, S.C., three grandchildren: Clay Johnson, Avery and Hudson Keen, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, a grandson: Carson Johnson and two brothers: Craig Price and James Timothy Price.
Visitation was held 5 to 9 p.m. Friday May 10, 2019 and after 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 11, 2019, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Greg Powell, Dr. Gordon Jones and Tom Estes officiated. Burial followed in the Watson Chapel Cemetery.
Brian Johnson, Jon Keen, Keith Price, Matthew Smith, Conner Wesley and Brent Ware served as pallbearers. LJ Watson, Tim Goodlett, Eddie Price, Larry Porter, Bart Jones, Joe Murphy, Tom Estes and Roger Durham served as honorary pallbearers.
