Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 21, 2010.
Saturday morning, Lynda Langerfeld won the victory in her courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis and went to her new heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lynda was born to John and Carolyn Russell in Morganfield, KY and lived most of her early life in Columbus, MS. She graduated from Lee High School and after attending MUW for one year, graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 1970, she met the love of her life, David Langerfeld, at Camp Wrenwood, in Wren, MS. They married in 1974, enjoying 36 wonderful years of companionship. While at Mississippi State, they served First Baptist Church, Macon, MS. After seminary, they served First Baptist Church of Madisonville, TN; Vestavia Hills Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL; Oakhust Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS and had just completed 21 years of service at Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS. Known by everyone for her beautiful, encouraging spirit; her joyful, gentle disposition; and her glowing, contagious smile, Lynda had a special ministry at Harrisburg which allowed the ladies of the church to stay with her and minister to her while her husband ministered at the church - But she also ministered to those same ladies in ways to numerous to count. She was blessed by four very special caregivers, Edit Hutcheson, Frances Cayson, Gloria Fitzpatrick and Rhonda Shannon; three "Home-Makeover" Specialists, Joan Rae Collum, Joann Henderson and Becky Jackson; and four very special "angels", Lauren Patterson, Lisa Hawkins, Sue McAlister and Linda Hale.
