Eli, I will never forget your pure compassion for others and your selflessness. You helped me greatly my freshman year at Penn State.Your contributions to the community were never unnoticed, neither was your art. Your costumes were incredible. You are forever in my heart and my memories.

I did not know Eli, but was touched by his story. My heart breaks for his family and loved ones, and I hope that you all find comfort and peace in the memories you've gathered with Eli in his too-short life. My greatest hope is that Eli has found the peace that this world and society were not yet ready to afford him.

I was on a panel with Eli a number of years ago. We were addressing a church youth group about LGBTQA concerns. I found him loving and caring in regard to all the questions from the kids. My heart goes out to his family.

Eli (or Miriam) was a monolith in my high school days to me, one who was an integral part of my experience there and helped me make it through a very difficult time. He was an incredible influence and was a kindly, beautiful soul who, in the limited capacity I have to pray, do so that he is now finally in rest. I do not really expect you to remember who I was, Roe family, but just know you are in my thoughts and reflections.

I am so deeply sadden. I have such fond memories from kindergarten and Radio Park. Always a favorite of mine, putting a smile to my lips each time we would cross paths. I feel fortunate to have had the privilege of being touched by such a life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Eli melted away the boundaries of being trans. My son billy and I saw him as a full and complete person. I know he was embraced by family so I assume it was depression that took him down. I honestly didn't perceive him as a trans person. He was wonderful. So very sad.

I know a friend of a friend of Eli, not Eli personally. I wanted to say I am so sorry for this terrible loss. I have been touched by his life through the periphery, and I hope that there is peace, love, and healing surrounding Eli now, and that the same healing and love surrounds those he left behind.

Eli made such an impact on us at The Arc of Centre County in such a short amount of time, I cannot imagine the grief his loving and supportive family and friends are feeling. He was a gentle soul, and your words encapsulated that perfectly. We are all better people for having known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and please let me know if you need anything.

Dear John, Liane, and Nathan- my heart breaks for all of you at this time. Wish I could have known Miriam as Eli. I remember Miriam as such as sweet person and I am sure that Eli was even more so once he was able to discover himself. What a wonderful tribute to him that he spent so much of his time and energy reaching out to help others even as he was struggling. May he be at peace now forever in the arm's of Christ. Know that we are praying for you without ceasing.

Dear Roe Family,
Love, light and peace. News of your loss was devastating to those who knew and loved Eli/Miriam. He made a difference. Period. The things that he accomplished in a very short lifetime were significant to so many people. Smart, talented, and so very sweet. I know you were proud of this child and the young adult he had become. I was so blessed to have known him. This special angel will be with you in your hearts forever.

A kind heart. At Radio Park Elementary, our daughter suffered one of those swinging climbing accidents *What if we tie a hoolahoop to the swing and hang upside down?" Lauren came out of that with an injury and Miriam stuck with her and saw that Lauren got the care she needed. Always a kind and compassionate soul as a classmate through the years. God's peace to the Roe family.

I was Eli's advisor in the School of Theatre. Although he was with us for only a semester, I was so impressed with his beautiful soul. Eli was a loving and open individual and I had hoped he would find a home in our area. I was so sad to lose him as a student, and am now deeply shocked and sorrowful at his passing. The world needed more Eli's.

Dear Roe Family:
My heart breaks for you. Eli sounds like a wonderful person who brought much good to this world. He was a friend of a friend, and I never met him, but wish I had. Blessings to you and your family.
