Eddie Lane Burt passed away peacefully in his home on August 8, 2018 at age 80 due to Alzheimer's. Eddie was born in Ringgold, Louisiana. As a teen, he and his family moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where he was Captain and star of the C. E. Byrd High School basketball team. Eddie enjoyed a long career with Equitable Life (now AXA-Equitable) which took him to Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, and Connecticut, after which he retired in Weddington, NC. He and his lovingly devoted wife Jane were dedicated members of the Queen City Corvette Club where Eddie served on the Board for over ten years. They both enjoyed Eddie's love of basketball, football, traveling, and drag racing.

Eddie is survived by his wife Jane R. Henderson Burt; sister Alvina Martin of Shreveport, Louisiana; children Gary Scroggs (Ofelia) of Bakersfield, CA, Brenda Vinson (David), of Cypress, TX, Beverly Anderson (John) of Flower Mound, TX, Eddie L. Burt, Jr. (Barbara), of Spring, TX. Grandchildren are Blake Scroggs, Cory Davis, Kaci Davis, Amber Burt, and Eddie Lane Burt, III. There are also four great grandchildren and two nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Rubilee and Willard Burt, sister Jane Leon and brother Dayton Burt.

At his request, there will be no funeral or formal memorial service. He'd rather be remembered when you're driving with the top down listening to Country Music, eating BBQ, or enjoying a Margarita on the beach.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Union County Fund, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
