Renee' Carter Tench, 54, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday July 10, 2018. Renee' was born on June 9th, 1964 in Wilmington, NC to Donald Hayes Carter and Betty Jean Collins Carter. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and by her brother, Donald Wayne Carter.

Renee' left a legacy for her family by writing down her life story in a book entitled "Memoirs of a Bootlegger's Daughter." It chronicles her life starting at the end of a dirt road in Hickory, NC and ending up at the end of another dirt road in Lake Lure, NC. She spent the majority of her adult married life in three churches - starting with Sunset Road Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, then New Covenant United Methodist Church in Lucia, NC, and finishing up with Chimney Rock Baptist Church in Lake Lure, NC.

Renee' is survived by her husband of 36 years, Roger Dale Tench of Lake Lure, NC, and her step-daughter, Rebecca Ann Tench of Bainbridge Island, Washington. She also leaves three sister-in-laws: Linda T. Byrd (Roger), Barbara T. Helderman (Wayne Sr.), and Carole T. Helms (Don), three brother-in-laws Larry C. Tench (Sandy), Donald E. Tench (Shirley), and James M. Tench (Anne), and approximately 75 nieces, nephews and cousins, each of which she claimed as her favorite at one time or another. Renee loved as fiercely as is humanly possible. Countless friends, family members, co-workers, and neighbors have lost a piece of their heart and a person who had their back, no matter what. We have also gained a very busy angel to watch over us until we meet again.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Road Baptist Church 2317 Sunset Road Charlotte, NC on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 pm also at Sunset Road Baptist Church. Reverend Steve Bass will officiate with the eulogy given by Retired Pastor Gene Daggerhart of Chimney Rock Baptist Church assisted by Alex Heafner the current pastor of Chimney Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery at 4601 Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Chimney Rock Baptist Church at 1:30 pm.
