Victoria Josephson Obituary

Victoria D. Josephson
Mrs. Josephson passed away peacefully, in her home in Matthews, NC at noon on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. She left us in comfort, with her family at her side. She is survived by her husband, Dick Josephson, her son, Morgan Josephson, her daughter, Marly Josephson, and her brother, Tim Davis. She was preceded at a young age by her father, George Davis, and in adulthood by her step-father, Bernard Foster, and mother, Irene Foster, with whom she shared many special memories.
Vicki was born in Winston Salem on November 23, 1947 and was raised in Mocksville, NC. Raised in a family of art related professionals, she loved drawing and painting as a child. Choosing to major in art, she received her degree in art education from East Carolina University. Since 1971, Vicki has taught art in public schools, private schools, and colleges in North Carolina and Florida. Vicki's focus most recently has been her painting. Using oils, Vicki paints from life, capturing the effects of light through her impressionist style. Vicki captured the beauty of life through her painting, and much of her work will be available to view and enjoy by all at her website, www.vjosephson.com. The website will continue to be updated with the many magnificent pieces Vicki produced in addition to a memorial that celebrates her life.
Mrs. Josephson's visitation will be by McEwen Funeral Service at 727 E. Morehead Street in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, October 5, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father Frank O'Rourke, at Saint Ann's Catholic Church on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Procession will follow the mass to where Vicki will be laid to rest, in peace, at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews, NC.
The family is grateful for the opportunity to have been at home to care for Vicki over the course of her last weeks. She and her family are also very grateful for the loving care provided by Dr. Gary Frenette and his staff at Carolinas Hematology-Oncology Associates, Ms Meg Turner, of the Blumenthal Cancer Center, and Mrs. Jill DeHoog of Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region. Through the help of these special individuals, Vicki was able to leave us in peace and comfort.
Vicki and her family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Blumenthal Cancer Center with Carolinas Healthcare System at 1025 Morehead Medical Drive #600 Charlotte NC 28204.

I recently learned about the death of this great artist. I met Victoria in Raleigh at a showing at Art Source a few years ago. My husband and I own three of her paintings, one of which is the opening painting on her website. We love her work and will cherish our paintings even more. We are so saddened by her death and send our thoughts and prayers to her family.

My family met the Josephsons at Sardis Forest Swim Club years ago. I remember always admiring Vicki because I wanted to be a teacher, too, and she had her cool "Art Teacher" license plate! I remember some of her artwork and thought it was just beautiful. I always remember the four of you coming to the pool as a family and always being together as a family. Now that I have children of my own, I see how important that is and how much you will treasure those times that you spent together. I know you will miss your mother and wife deeply, but I also know that she will be smiling down on you every day. You have a beautiful family and I know she is so proud of each of you.
Love, Rachel (Biscombe) Hoeing

You are such an amazing person with a huge heart! (You take after your mother) One memory I cherish is the time your mom helped us make sweatshirts for our senior homecoming game. I was so sorry to hear of Vicki's passing. I was in school with her from her elementary classes at Cooleemee and graduated from Davie High with her in 1966. I remember so well her twirling that baton as a majorette and being elected Miss Merry Christmas in high school. She was a beautiful and talented person. We will never forget her, and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

I had the privilege of attending 4 years of high school with Vicki and knowing her as a teenager. She was a really sweet person and a beautiful girl. Vicki was loved by everyone and she was so very popular. I heard of her illness and passing with great sadness. She will be remembered by all who knew her. Go with God friend of my youth. You left this world a better place and I am honored to have known you.

Tim,Joe,and Family,
There is so much I would like to say about Vicki and the friendship we shared in our youth, but I will save this for another time. I will tell you that God chose beautiful Vicki to join Him in Heaven, where she will paint for His Glory.
May God bless and fill you with peace during this time of sadness. The void left in your hearts will be filled with joyous memories that belong only to you.
My prayers are with you.
