You will be sorely missed. We shared so many memories together. From T.T.H.S. with the purple platoon, to the University of Michigan wrestling camps we attended. To the numerous parties we celebrated with all of our friends. We all lost a piece of ourselves with your passing. It is a distinct pleasure to be named as one of your friends. I'll miss you. Mark, Sam, Vinnie, Roland, Dennis and myself will watch over your family. We love you and miss you

My deepest sympathy to you Maureen, Nicole and Denise. Wally was a hero to all that knew him. He will always be with you in your hearts and your memories. He is your guardian angel watching over you. It is amazing, all the people whose lives he touched and made better with his caring, and concern for the job he did and loved so much. He will be missed by all. There are no words to describe how we feel about the loss of such a great man, but I have always been a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. And even though Wally's passing was senseless and tragic, I do believe he was called to perform something much greater. My deepest smypathy to his wife Maureen and family (you know Maria and I are here if you ever need anything). Our thoughts and prayer's are with you now and always, God Bless

I first met Wally at Lincoln School. I will always remember Wally as a genuine, nice guy. It is rare in this world to know someone who had such an impact on so many lives. I pray that God will strengthen Maureen, the girls, the Rolniak and Reilly families and numerous friends in this time of sorrow. Wally will live on in many wonderful memories.

Detective William "Wally" Rolniak Jr. is a hero. His senseless death is a tragedy to say the very least.

To his family, his wife and daughters, his Mom and Dad, his sisters and his in-laws: You have been in "The Police Family" since the day Wally pinned the badge on his chest, you will remain our family forever. Wally will be there for you, watching over you each day, just pray to him, not for him. We too will be there for you, only a phone call away. No matter where you are in this Nation, anyone who continues to stand on the blue line will help . . . please just ask. There are many more tributes and condolences on the Officer Down Memorial Pages (OPMP.) Many police officers leave their reflection there. Visit it sometime.

Wally, we'll take care of your family as best we can. We'll finish the watch from here and stand guard on the line; rest in peace brother.
Sergeant John Doherty (Chicago Police)

Wally will always be remembered as one of my closest friends. We shared several years together and many good times. The last day I have sat and remembered those times, which are some of the best times of my early life. I deeply regret that I let such a wonderful person slip from my life. God bless you Wally and your family. May God bless and keep all of you forever.
