Deborah Jo Rankin Gunn, a longtime resident of Glencoe, IL and Evanston, IL, passed away, surrounded by family, on April 18, 2018 in Fairfax, Virginia. The daughter of Wilson and Jean (Cohen) Rankin, Deborah was born in Great Lakes, IL.? She was a graduate of the class of 1964 of New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL.? She attended Simpson College in Iowa and Northeastern Illinois University?in Chicago. She began her career in early childhood education at the Chiaravalle Montessori School in Evanston, IL.? She later established the first Montessori School in Montego Bay, Jamaica.?She began her career in television as one of the first interns at The Oprah Winfrey Show. She went on to produce Minority Business Report, The Stellar Awards and Know Your Heritage.? She completed her career at WLS-TV, Chicago, where she produced public affairs programming. Her talents were recognized with multiple Emmy nominations and two Emmy® Awards. Deborah is survived by her daughter Leslie Gunn Perez (Calixto), her two granddaughters, Graciela Perez and Isabelle Perez, and her sister, Mona Rankin.?She leaves behind a host of cousins and friends.
