Marge Hallinan was the first cousin, best friend and bridesmaid of my late wife, Lois (Hayhurst) Gaquin. About the same age, they grew up together in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago's near Northside. Although separated over the years by the 1,000 miles between Cape Cod and Chicago, they remained close with numerous and lengthy phone calls.
Marge was an ardent Chicago sports fan and she and her late brother, Jack, had season tickets to the Bulls and White Sox and Cubs games. Marge and I used to swap clippings of stories on the Cubs in the Boston Globe and Chicago Tribune, and I'd add items from Sports Illustrated.
Mare was the leading authority on the genealogy, history and activities of the Hallinan and Foran Families. She had a long and productive career as secretary of the president of one of Chicago's leading banks.
And wasn't it great that the Cubs finally won the World Series about a year before her passing.
Marge will be sorely missed but never forgotten by her relatives and friends. R.I.P

Margie was my godfathers sister. Even though I live in Colorado I used to go to Chicago on business and called her and Jack whenever I could. My fondest memory was meeting her for lunch somewhere on Michigan Avenue and seeing her hustle down the street dressed to the nines with her fur coat flapping in the wind. I loved her and her brother Jack.

Margie was my second cousin; but she was also a dear soul who loved her family
Throughout the years, Margie joined our family many times for birthdays, and other holiday events. Margie and I had many good phone conversations and a quite few good laughs over the years. That I will truly miss.
She always remembered family and friends; she never forgot a birthday or anniversary or the holidays. She kept in touch with many family and friends and was very active and very independent until the last several of years. Margie was a big fan of baseball with season tickets for the Sox's and Cubs. She and her late brother Jack attended many games and other sporting events as well.
At Christmas I bake cookies and I always shipped some to her; she told me often how much she enjoyed them. Recently, in one of my visits to see her at Villa St. Benedict's I baked some of her favorites and she had a few and smiled as she ate them slowly savoring every bite.
Margie, you had a life well lived, you can now join your Mom (Irene), Dad( Mike) and brothers Jack and Joe and all of our other relatives who will greet you with open arms.
I love you Margie and we will miss you very much.
