Robert Brown(1924 - 2013)

photoRobert Andrew Brown, 89, a Northbrook, Ill. resident since 1958, died at home on July 7, 2013. An international patent law attorney and professional engineer, Mr. Brown ran a private practice for more than 30 years. Mr. Brown received a bachelor's in engineering in 1949 from the University of Michigan after serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He graduated in 1965 from Chicago-Kent College of Law. An avid alumnus, Mr. Brown was a former president of the University of Michigan Club of Chicago. He served on the Northbrook Park District Board of Commissioners. He was a member since 1970 of the Union League Club of Chicago, a Shriner and lifetime member of the Northbrook Civic Foundation. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea; son, Gregory Smith; and brother, Emerson. Preceding him in death are his wife, Betty; mother, Ethel; father, Milton; sisters Marjorie, Jean; and brother, Randall. A celebration of Mr. Brown's life will take place Oct. 26 in Northbrook.
