H. Earle Metzger Jr.

Metzger Jr., H. Earle Age 76, a North Shore resident for over 50 years. Beloved father of Beth (Alexis) Kluge and Jon E. Metzger; loving grandfather of triplets, Katharine, Alexander and Emily Kluge; dear brother of Margaret (the late Roger) Emelson and June (Bud) Hall. Earle was born June 28, 1937 in Beaver Falls, PA to H. Earle, Sr. and Helen King Metzger. Earle received his Bachelor's degree from Geneva College in PA, and his Master's degree from Northwestern University. Earle taught English and was a favorite as a Student Advisor at New Trier High School in Winnetka for his entire 35 year career. While teaching at New Trier, he was known as the "Earle of Golf" for his many years as head golf coach, he also coached wrestling for many years as well. Earle volunteered for over 30 years with the Illinois Junior Golf Association, serving as a past president. In 1994 Earle was inducted to the Illinois Coaches Association Golf Hall of Fame. Earle was active on the North Shore as well, serving as past commissioner of the Winnetka Park District, past president of the Winnetka Men's Golf Club, and past president of American Field Service (a student exchange program).
