Adolph Rosalini Obituary

Adolph J. ''Doc'' Rosalini, age 77, lifelong resident of Highwood, IL, husband of Betty, nee Calzia; father of A. John ''Dugan'', Lawrence and Jeanine Rosalini; brother of Helen (Frank) Supanich, Lily (Albert) Tondi, Mary and Peter ''Sketch'' Rosalini. Preceded in death by sister, Annie (Armond) Turchi; brothers, Clarence, Gino and Joseph Rosalini; parents, Giovanni Rosollini [sic] originally from Belvedere, Italy and Augusta Rossolini-Fiocchi [sic] from Lezzano, Italy. Soon after his birth in Blockton, AL, his family moved north to Highwood where he attended Oak Terrace Grammar School and graduated from Highland Park H.S. ('42), earning a varsity letter in football. Doc then served his country as a soldier in WWII combat (New Guinea and the Philippines) and his community as a Little League coach and member of V.F.W. Post #4741. For 35 years he was employed by Commonwealth Edison Co., first as a meter reader, then as a lineman, being promoted to crew leader as the (then) youngest employee ever appointed to that position. After ''retiring'', Doc headed off for the links to begin yet another outdoor occupation, marshal & pro shop assistant at Ft. Sheridan Golf Course. He was crazy about golf. In recent years it was his life, playing whenever he could. Even from his hospital bed you'd find him giving pointers to his sons and daughter. It was ''The Swing'' - the essence of the game - that he faithfully cared about most, and like a dance, was his bliss to teach. Though Doc once enjoyed a round of 3-under-par, late in life he seldom kept score or minded where the ball went. His motto both on the course and off: ''It doesn't mean a thing if you haven't got that swing.'' Visitation 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park, IL, where Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6. Interment Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, contributions for a Golf Course Memorial in Doc's name appreciated c/o Lawrence Rosalini, 1177 Waukegan Rd., Deerfield, IL 60016. Jeanine, our sympathy is with you and your family at this time. I just checked and found out your Dad can play golf where he is so may not be that bad for him.
