Carnell Pulliam Obituary
Pulliam, Carnell Gary, IN, age 79, passed away July 14, 2014, peacefully at home. Carnell was born February 3, 1935, in Grenada, Mississippi to Whitfield and Bernice (McCain) Willis. As a young adult, she moved to Gary, Indiana where she met and later married Ervin Pulliam, Jr. and from this union five children were born. Carnell served as a loyal employee at the Gary Health Department and later retired from Lake County Sheriff's Department (Civil Division). She loved being with all family and friends, enjoyed traveling, family reunions and taking casino trips with her "Casino Pals". Carnell was most proud of her five children, and adored spending time with and nurturing her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Felix, Guy, George and Darnell Willis; and 1 sister, Otha Hawkins. She is survived by children, Kim, Ervin Vincent Pulliam III (Kim), Stephanie, Philip, Felicia (William); grandchildren, Kacie, Paris, Cody, Gage, Courtney, Porsha and William Jr. She is also survived by sisters, Odell (Willis) Shelton and Leola Willis; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Willis, Valerie Willis, and Juanita (Pulliam) Lott; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., with family hour 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held at First A.M.E. Church, 2045 Massachusetts St., Gary, IN with Rev. Emmanuel Vaughn officiating. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park.
