Jones, Howard Alfred Howard was born the 5th of 16 children to Leonard and Beatrice Jones in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 26, 1926. Howard attended public schools in New Orleans before joining the U.S. Navy in 1945. Following his discharge, Howard completed training and received his certification in Tailoring and Alteration from the Cayette-Collier Training School. After completing his training, Howard met the love of his life, Alma Browning. Howard was affectionately known by his wife as H.A. H.A. and Alma moved north, committed to their vows to begin their family and their new life together. To this union five children were born, Alfred, Howard (Pyankey), Glen, Cheryl and Wendell. H.A. retired after 40 years of service from Montgomery Wards and began pursuing his 2nd love full time, playing golf and spending time with his family. H.A. was a diligent and steadfast Christian and servant to the church. He was a devoted husband and father. H.A. was preceded in death by his wife, Alma; three children, Cheryl, Alfred and Wendell. H.A. leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Howard (Pyankey), Glen; one daughter of love, Sharon Mallory; five sisters, Beatrice of Bressler, PA, Earlee of Lebon, PA, Lillian (Robert) of Steelton, PA, Lucille of New Orleans, Gladys of Slidell, LA; three brothers, Percy (Helen) of Baltimore, MD, Paul (Nancy) of Harrisburg, PA and Theodore (Evelyn) of Henderson, TN; one brother-in-law, George Tervalon; and one sister-in-law, Mona Tervalon Brown; nine grandchildren, Chiyana, Anubi, Anua, Cenuka, Anuka, Anup, Anumoat, Glen Jr., Charmayne; and a host of loving relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 12:00noon-8:00p.m. with family hours 5:00-7:00p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 719 Clark Road. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
