Ardene Kanov Obituary
Ardene Kaye Kanov died peacefully at home on July 10, 2017 in Bothell, WA at the age of 83, after a long struggle with COPD. Ardene is survived by her daughter Jeanine (Judd) of Bothell, WA, stepson Gerard (Laura) of Gallatin, TN, 3 grandchildren, 2 nephews, 1 niece, her very dear friend of 59 years, Darla, 5 furry grandchildren, and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by husband Jerry, parents John M.P. Trittenbach and Gertrude R. Bryant, sister Betty Jane, and stepson Wayne. Ardene spent the majority of her life in the Chicago area. In high school she worked at a local record store, and then went on to a career in the fashion / sewing industry, including having a patent issued for one of her bra designs. In 1954 she married Jerry Kanov, and 12 years later they welcomed daughter Jeanine. Ardene, a devoted mom and wife, spent time balancing her career while volunteering with PTA, Girl Scouts and more. She also followed one of her passions by volunteering at Brookfield Zoo, as well as volunteering with Kiwanis and other local civic group projects in her long time hometown of Brookfield, IL. Ardene's friends and family remember her as a very generous, smart, creative and accomplished individual who loved to share her talents helping people with their creative endeavors, planning events, learning to sew, and more. She was a very accomplished designer and could conceptualize, design and create almost any piece of clothing, costume or decor. She was also passionate about knowledge, nature and animals; loved puzzles, reading, trees, and the animals with whom she shared her life. After retiring Ardene moved to the Seattle area to be with family and enjoyed animal rescue volunteer work, helping care for foster kittens, and planning fundraising events. A celebration of life is scheduled for Oct 1 at Washington Arboretum, Seattle. In lieu of flowers, donations to MEOW Cat Rescue in Kirkland, WA would be very much appreciated. The family would like to thank all her friends and family for keeping the memories of all the special things she accomplished alive in their hearts and Evergreen Hospice for their wonderful care.
