David Winton Obituary
David Eugene Winton of Glenview, IL, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2017 with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Harrison Winton; devoted father of Susan and Linda; proud grandfather of Mitchell, Mia, Ellie, Anna and Tommy. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, son, Tommy and brother, Richard. David was born to Elisabeth and Thomas Winton and grew up on the south side of Chicago, where he became a life-long Chicago White Sox fan and avid lover of jazz and blues music. He graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and earned his MBA from Northwestern University. He worked in marketing management at Illinois Bell, Ameritech and AT&T. After retirement, Dave served in his favorite position, backup nanny for his five grandchildren. Dave's life was dedicated to family, youth and community. He was an active member of Glenview Community Church for 50 years and passionately mentored youth in his role as a confirmation teacher for 20 years. David served on the District 225 Glenbrook School Board and as Trustee for the Glenview Public Library. He was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club where his favorite activity was Peanut Day. Dave was a proud resident of Fir Street for half a century. David is survived by daughters, Susan Pearsall (Jeffrey) of Chicago and Linda Sear (Michael) of Glen Ellyn; grandchildren, Mitchell and Mia Pearsall and Ellie, Anna and Tommy Sear; brother James Winton (Musette) of Weston, CT, brother-in-law Jack Harrison of Pasadena, CA; and five nephews and one niece. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 10th at 12:30 PM at Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm Street, Glenview, IL 60025. In lieu of flowers, donations in David Winton's name may be sent to Glenbrook High School Foundation/ Evening School, 3801 West Lake Avenue, Glenview, IL 60025 or http://www.glenbrookfoundation.org/.
