Donald P. Riff Obituary
Dr. Donald P. Riff, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and a Chicago cardiologist, passed away December 2, 2012 at his home in River Forest. Donald was born in Chicago in 1938. He married his loving wife Alison, who survives him, on May 28, 1983. Donald is also survived by three sons, Chris, Tim (Jane), and Andy (Laura); two daughters, Katie (Josh) and Lizzie (Michael); and his beloved granddaughter Sian. Donald spent his school years in the Chicago area, attending Quigley Seminary High School and Loyola University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1964. Donald practiced medicine at Rush University Medical Center for 30 years. In his retirement, he maintained his passions for sailing, Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, his children's sporting events, and the daily crossword puzzle. Donald will be fondly remembered for his dry wit, sharp mind, love of his children, and dedication to his family. Memorial visitation Tuesday, December 4 from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Giles Church, 1045 N. Columbian Ave., Oak Park. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls (mercyhome.org) are appreciated.
