Faye Pletcher Obituary
84 years young, longtime Naperville resident, passed away peacefully at her home on November 5, 2017. A devoted wife, mother and nurse, she touched the lives of many friends and neighbors. Originally from Shrewsbury, PA, Faye graduated from West York High School and subsequently received her nursing degree from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD. While there she met and married the love of her life, Harold (Joe) Pletcher. In 1954 they settled in Naperville where they built their home in Brenwood Estates and welcomed their only child Beth Ann. Faye was predeceased by her husband Harold in 2013 and she missed him dearly. She is survived by daughter Beth, son-in-law Paul Glassberg, loving grandchildren Brett and Brittany Glassberg as well as sisters Constance (Merle) Witter and Nancy Boyle; and nieces Julia Reed and Maxine (Guy) Fry. Faye and Harold were active members of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville beginning in 1954. They were also passionate about conservation and land preservation, working tirelessly to ensure that future generations would have open space and a place to appreciate nature and wildlife. Faye was truly in her element when hiking through the woods in Brenwood communing with nature or strolling on the beach in Delaware with family. She will be remembered for her dedication to attending to the medical needs of her friends and neighbors as well as her unflagging support and encouragement for her two creative grandchildren. As a final act, Faye gave the gift of knowledge to yet another generation of medical professionals by donating her remains to Rush Medical College in Chicago. At her behest, there will be no funeral or public memorial service, but a private family tribute will be held in the future on the Delmarva peninsula where the family spent many memorable summers. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter, both in Naperville, IL.
