Florence Stout Obituary

Florence Louise Stout, nee Eipper, a longtime resident of Lombard, IL, passed away on April 1, 2004, in Rochelle, IL. She was born March 14, 1918, in rural Clark County, OH, to Frank and Eleanor Ludlow Eipper. Florence was a 1940 graduate of Miami University, Oxford, OH, with a BA in Education. She married Paul R. Stout, originally from Hamilton County, OH, on May 10, 1941, in Evanston, IL. Florence was an avid gardener until recent years having established herself as an expert in iris, daylily and hosta. She was a life member of the Species Iris Group of North America and the Society for Japanese Iris. She also held memberships in many other notable societies. She had published several books and pamphlets regarding the care of these plant varieties. An enthusiastic family historian, Florence was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution as well as the Clark County (OH) and Hamilton County (OH) genealogical societies and had published ''Henry Eipper Comes To America''. Florence was preceded in death by five of her six siblings and daughter Linda and is survived by her husband and three children Holly (Gary) Schmidt of Maple Park, IL, Steven (Sue) Stout of Grand Rapids, MI, and Robert (Christine) Stout of Ashton; her sister Eleanor, nee Eipper, Carpenter of Ohio and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and many friends. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at the Ashton Bible Church in Ashton with the time of fellowship to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate memorial donations to the Celiac Sprue Association, the Species Iris Group of North America or the Society for Japanese Iris.
