George P. Alexandrou, 91, native of Spetses, Greece and a World War II veteran of the Royal Greek Navy, passed away on September 28, 2017, devoted husband of the late Emilee (nee Argiris) for 45 years, beloved father of Peter, Dean (Diane) and Alex (Karen) Alexandrou, loving grandfather of Christian, Danae, George and Evan Alexandrou, dear brother of the late Alexander (Fotini) Alexandrou, the late Eugenia (Mimis) Pentedekas, the late Dimitrios (Ann) Alexandrou, the late Irene (Christ) Dimitropoulos, the late Emmanuel (Elena) Alexandrou and Anny (Takis) Zacharopoulos, fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Former owner of the 504 Club (downtown Chicago), the original Psistaria Grecian Taverna (Lincoln Square) and Nonebetter Ice Cream Company (Chicago). Past President of St. Haralambos Church (Niles), long time board member, advocate, fundraiser and 2004 Spirit of Hope honoree of Little City Foundation, Past President of Little City Parent Family Guardian Group (Palatine). Past board member of Greek American Nursing Home (Wheeling). He was also a 50 year member of Hellenic Lodge 1084. He had a love of life, family and people that was unsurpassed. He touched so many lives and helped so many people with his compassion, generosity, kindness, hard work and indomitable spirit that his family, legion of friends and all who were fortunate enough to know him, will miss him dearly but never forget him. Visitation Friday, October 6, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora with a Trisagion Service to be held at 8 P.M. Family and friends will meet Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 9 A.M. at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 E. 5th Avenue, Aurora. Interment Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Little City Foundation, 1760 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine, IL (www.littlecity.org).
