Gerard Grace Obituary
Gerard "Buck" Grace, 89 years, at rest December 22, 2017, U. S. Navy veteran. Loving husband of the late Marylu "Tap", nee Butler. Dear father of Don (Suzanne), DeeDee (Bill) McAlaine, Kate (Tom) Brandt, Tom (Andrea) and Michael Grace. Grandfather of Sadie, Mary, Mason, Joe, Gracie, Michael, Nick, Abby, Jack and Ella. Buck is described by his children as a great listener who was genuinely curious about what you were doing and wanted to do. He led by example, always supportive and always had your back. He has a wonderful sense of humor and charmed folks with his many one liners. He graduated from De LaSalle in 1947 and continued to support The Meteors his entire life. He received the Man of the Year Award in 1982. Like so many of our veterans who never got a proper welcome home, he was deeply touched by the Welcome Home Honor Flight ceremony in May 2016. His real love was his partner in life, Marylu "Tap" and his five children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is treasured by all who were lucky enough to know him. Memorial visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Adolf Funeral Home, Ltd., 7000 S. Madison St., Willowbrook. Memorial Mass is Thursday, Dec. 28th, 10:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church in LaGrange. Friends are asked to go directly to the church on Thursday. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Misericordia or De La Salle Institute. Info at: 630-325-2300 or www.adolfservices.com.
