Goldie Glick Obituary
Goldie Shankman Glick, age 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 29, after a long and fulfilling life. She was married twice, to the late Simon Shankman of Kansas City and the late Fred Glick of Chicago. She was the last surviving sibling to her sisters Eileen, Toby (Levene) Orlovick and her identical twin, Yetta (Kaplan) Gicinto, and half-siblings Larry (Helen) Rankle, Dorothy Stoup, Sam and Milton. Goldie was active in American Jewish Congress and with the International Hospitality Center, as host to US State Dept. visitors from around the world, showing them Chicago and providing home hospitality. She always looked forward, never back. She loved to dance and travel, and valued her family above all else. She will forever be remembered for her wild red hair, vivacious personality and positive attitude toward life. Survivors include her 7 children: Andrea (Steve) Eisenstein, Janeen (the late Sanford Joseph) Weiss, Jack (Leslie) Shankman, Marcy (David) Sugar, Brian (Kathy) Shankman, Morse (Lynn) Shankman and Devri (Joel) Ehrlich; 22 grandchildren: Anjanette (Raul Nunez), Frank (Keally) Weiss and Stefani Weiss; Jenelle (David) Garner, Michael (Amy) Eisenstein, Jon Eisenstein and Lisa (Josh) Rothstein; Zack (Hillary) Shankman, Noah and Mason Shankman; Mark (Tiffany) Sugar, Eric (Naomi) Sugar and Jeff (Lielle) Sugar; Shannon and Cassandra Shankman; William and Michael Shankman; Amalia, Eitan, Ephraim, Yocheved and Yoni Ehrlich; and 17 great grandchildren: Yari, Akiva, Shira, Shayna, Rachel, Peretz, Emunah, Meir, Sarah, Austin, Chavy, Hillary, Abby, Joseph, Hadley, Jonah and Caleb. The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers, Nicefora Dagumen and Alma Jalosjos for their loving care. Services will be held on Monday, Oct. 2, at 10:00 am, at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd, Skokie, interment at Shalom Memorial Park, Arlington Heights.
