Jayne Tyrrell Mathias, age 98, of Chicago,IL, formerly of Oak Park, passed away peacefully on November 25th. She was the beloved wife of the late John; the loving mother of Toby, John, Buck, Mike and Tammy (Taylor); the adored grandmother of Jay and Marc Mathias, Alice, Teddy, Pete, Johnny and Marian Mathias, Jack, Bridgette, and Elise Taylor, Blake Brissette-Mathias, and one great grandchild Colton Brisette-Mathias. Jayne was born on September 23, 1919 to Alice and Gordon Tyrell. Before she was married, she had a career in modeling and advertising in Chicago and later found success as a real estate agent in Oak Park where she raised her five children. Once her children "left the nest", she moved to downtown Chicago where she loved living at the Belden Stratford, her residence for the past thirty years. She summered every year of her life in Palisades Park, Michigan which was indeed her happy place. Jayne will be remembered fondly by her friends and family for her wit and humor, as well as her great sense of fashion and style. She loved a great party as well as good food and good drink. Above all else, Jayne fiercely loved her children who fiercely loved her back. Visitation Friday, December 8th from 5 - 9 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Family and friends will meet Saturday, December 9th, at Ascension Church, 808 S. East Ave., Oak Park for a 9:45 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to would be appreciated.
