Leo James "Jim" Hirsch, age 94, formerly of Park Ridge, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his son Gerald's home in Barrington Hills, IL under the tender care of hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Interment to be held at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the Church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements. Leo was born on May 18, 1924, the son of Leo and Theresa (Brost) Hirsch in Medford, Wisconsin. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School and Medford High School. He was an operator for the Greyhound bus company for 42 years. Leo was united in marriage to Lorraine Milewski on June 28, 1952 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2005. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 60 years and enjoyed gardening. Leo is survived by five children: Connie (Mike) Schubert, James (Polly) Hirsch, Gerald Hirsch, Thomas (Amy) Hirsch, and Debra (Herb) LaMee. 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two siblings: Marguerite (Ray) Klingbeil of Medford and Patrick Hirsch of Lake Bluff, IL; two sisters-in-law: Bernice Hirsch of Sparta, and Joan Hirsch of Pensacola, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and five siblings: Marilyn (Ray) Strassman, Peter Hirsch, Mark Hirsch, Eileen (Gerald) Handel and John Hirsch; and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Hirsch. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to Orphanage of Casa Hogar, 1 Pablo 2, Lima, Peru in care of Diocese of La Crosse Mission Office, PO Box 4004, La Crosse, WI 54602.
