Lionel J. Gindorf Obituary
Lionel J. Gindorf, of Western Springs; husband of 68 years to the late Anne Gindorf; loving father of Merry (the late Phil) Nicholson & Jeffrey (Andrea) Gindorf; proud grandfather of Christine & John Nicholson, Joie & Jamie Gindorf; wonderful uncle of many; mentor and role-model to all. Lionel known to most as "Tiny" lived an extraordinary life. He was a WWII veteran, the President and business manager of Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers, served as International Secretary Treasurer of IUOE, and the list goes on. There are no words to capture his real accomplishment and the extent of his influence which created livelihoods and guaranteed success for generations of families. He gave a million favors and never asked for one in return. Visitation 2 to 9pm on Sunday, December 9th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Visitation continues at the funeral home from 9am until time of funeral service, 10am on Monday, December 10th. Interment Fairmount-Willow Hills Memorial Park. Any Local 399 members who would like to contribute to the Anne S. Gindorf Scholarship fund would be appreciated. Funeral info: (708) 352-6500 or hjfunerals.com
