Dr. Rajendra Prasad Atluri, treasured husband of Dr. Indira Atluri, passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2017, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family in Oak Brook. He was born on July 7th, 1941 in Chowtapalli, India, and was the first of his small village to complete an advanced degree, graduating from Gulburga Medical College in 1969. Dr. Atluri immigrated with his family to Chicago in 1970, where he had a longstanding medical practice and rose to be Chairman of Family Practice and Emergency Medicine at Oak Park Hospital. As a devoted husband of 49 years, a caring physician, a dedicated father, determined entrepreneur, and one of the founders of the Sri Venkateswara Swami Balaji Temple in Aurora, IL, Dr. Atluri's compassion, positivity and leadership touched many lives. Dr. Atluri's contributions to the overseas Indian community include his ongoing assistance to many immigrant families and his work as one of the founders of the Tri-State Telugu Association. His philanthropic activities include extensive support to the educational funding of students at Loyola College in Vijayawada, A.P. India. The memory of Dr. Atluri's joyfulness, strength and kindness will live on in the hearts of his adoring sons, Pradeep, Prasant and Pramod, his daughters-in-law, his ten grandchildren, and throughout his extended family and community in the United States and India.
