Robert Michael Canman, of Brevard, NC, formerly of Glenview, IL and Chicago, IL, passed away on June 23, 2009 at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Karen; children Christine (husband Eric), Robert Jr., and Catherine; grandchildren Caitlin and Erin; and former wife Margot. He will be missed by his family and so many friends to whom he was a mentor, friend, companion, and inspiration. He graduated with a degree in broadcast engineering from Columbia College Chicago, served as an electronics officer in the Navy after graduation, and enjoyed a successful career with the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) where he was awarded a Chicago Emmy for lighting direction for the TV movie "Crime of Innocence", and was the veteran of several U.S. Presidential campaigns as a member of the media. Bob retired with his wife Karen in the North Carolina mountains he loved ever since his father introduced him to them as a young man, where he admired the people and their music. Bob Canman's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St., Glenview, IL.
Margot Canman will host a gathering at her home in Glenview following the service.
