Seymour Nordenberg Obituary
Seymour Nordenberg, age 101, of Glencoe IL (and Vernon Hills of late) passed away December 23, 2017 peacefully at home. Born May 21,1916 in Chicago to Sam and Belle (Cohen) Nordenberg. Graduated from Senn HS then worked at Goldblatt Bros where he met and married Bernice Goldblatt. After her death in 2000, Seymour and Sylvia Wolfson became life partners. Served in Army Intelligence during WWII, then was VP Goldblatts, VP Sealy, and President Steinway-Ford Hopkins before owning Hirsh Display Fixtures until he retired at age 83. Dedicated to education and public service throughout his life. Served as President of: Glencoe Library Board, North Suburban Library System, JVS, North Shore Congregation Israel, Northbrook Symphony Board. Avid Cubs fan who waited patiently 100 years for the Cubs to finally win the World Series. Universally admired and loved, he donated his body for research. Loving father of Jeralyn (Ivan) Inger and Mark (Linda) Nordenberg, proud grandfather of David (Leora Rabin) Inger and Laurie Lane, great-grandchildren Jake, Joe and Lexi Inger, Vivian and Nova Lane. Very close to Sylvia's children Jan (Bob) Walker, Diane (Laury) Istvan and Gary (Penny) Mayer, Bob (Vicki) Wolfson, Lynn Rostrom and their families. A Celebration of Life is planned for the spring.
