Stanley Rothstein Obituary
Stanley H. Rothstein of Chicago, IL died on October 3 at Montgomery Place at the age of 91. He was born on March 10, 1926 in Louisville, KY. He served as a soldier in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received a Purple Heart. After returning home, he attended college at the University of Louisville where he developed his lifelong passion for Cardinals basketball. He moved to Hyde Park in Chicago in 1949, where he attended the University of Chicago and received an MSW, and then a PhD in clinical psychology. Stanley's early career included service at Jewish Children's Bureau and Loretto Hospital. In 1967, he became Director of the Southeast Community Mental Health Center, where he remained until his retirement in 1992. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Stanley was perhaps best known for a near-encyclopedic knowledge of bakeries and ice cream parlors in Chicago. He will be greatly missed by Linda, his wife of 57 years; by his sons: Jandos and his wife Jan, and Jason and his wife Annie; by his grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, and Jascha; and by his brother, Joseph. Service Friday 11AM at KAM Isaiah Israel, 1100 E. Hyde Park Blvd., Chicago, IL 60615. Interment Oak Woods. Memorial donations may be made in Stanley's name to Chicago Public Radio, 848 E.
