Thomas Herbert Donohoe, 69, cherished husband of Nancy Santacaterina, beloved dad of Kevin, (Erin Kelly) and Brian (Katie Simony), dear Bacca-Papa to Madelynn, Marjorie and Eleanor, loving brother of Kathleen Donohoe, OSF;Elinor (Frank) Gusinde, Ruth Piper and Joan Donohoe, brother-in-law to Susan (Chuck Sanders), Judy (Matt Swan), Michael (Maryellen) and Amy Santacaterina, son-in-law to Leno and the late Rena Santacaterina. Uncle "Big T" to many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents James and Lucille (Russell) Donohoe, and niece Shannon Piper. Tom was a partner at McDermott, Will and Emery where he specialized in state and local tax. He attended St. Patrick High School, the University of Michigan where he was a member of Theta Chi and graduated as an Angell Scholar, and the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was an avid golfer and relished his membership at Evanston Golf Club where he had a handicap of 9. He cherished his friendships with the Commons of Evanston gang, as well as lifelong friends from grammar school, high school, college, law school and in the legal and Illinois state and local tax arenas. Tom found his work at McDermott to be challenging and rewarding, often claiming that joining the firm was the best career decision he ever made. During his 25 years there, he established himself as a renowned counsel in the tax field, working closely with government agencies on behalf of dozens of corporations. Tom served on the Board of Trustees at Robert Morris University Illinois for over 30 years. He was a firm believer in providing opportunities in higher education for all with a desire to succeed. He found the mission of the University of preparing college students for the real world through experiential learning to be essential in building a professional workforce for society. Visitation Thursday, October 5, 2017, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd. at Old Orchard Road, Skokie, IL 60077. Funeral Mass Friday 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove Street, Glenview, IL 60025. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.
