Thomasetta Solak Obituary
Thomasetta (Tomi) Solak, 73, died peacefully in her sleep on May 25, 2014 with her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Thomas Solak, was by her side. She was born and raised in Chicago, where she graduated from Resurrection High School in 1958. Tomi spent years as a dedicated Marine Corps wife and mother, and served in various support capacities for the Department of Defense and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lexington, Virginia. In 1994, she received a Bachelor of Psychology degree from George Mason University. In retirement, Tomi painted prolifically and was an active member of the Kings Park West Community Association and of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Tomi lived passionately and loved deeply. She was a devoted mother to her children and a loyal friend to many. She loved to travel, learn, cook, entertain, draw, and paint. She shared countless meals with family and friends in her many homes across the US, especially with the Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy and the Cadets of the Virginia Military Institute. She is deeply treasured and will be missed by many. Tomi is survived by four children: Scott Solak (Ketlen) of Alexandria, Virginia, Jamie Solak (Scott Pickens) of Arlington, Virginia, Heather Capozzi (Michael) of Falls Church, Virginia and Sarah Dokken (Paul) of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She is also survived by her brother Conrad Czajkowski of Colorado Springs, Colorado and four grandchildren: Emma Mobley, Lauren Capozzi, Caroline Capozzi and Julie Capozzi; and her latest dog, Cinder.
