
Milun Nikolic, 1921, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2011, with his children by his side at his home on Chicago's Lake Shore Drive. Milun was the loving husband of the late Nada; dearest, devoted and caring father of his loving sons, Dragoljub and Djordje- Georg Nikolic; and his daughter, Dragica Milosevic, who all adored and cherished him. He will be eternally missed. Preceded in death by his dearest parents, Ljubomir and Nevena; his brothers and sister; forever heart-broken, loving and cherished grandfather of late Ivanka Milosevich, the Latin School of Chicago student, who was murdered by the Yugoslav secret police here in Chicago in 1977; loving and caring grandfather and great-grandfather; dear nephew of late Bishop Dionisije, the Head of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese for the United States and Canada, 1940-1979; dear godfather and dear cousin and wholeheartedly giving friend of many. He will be fondly missed by all who had the fortune to have known him. Loved to share his knowledge and life experiences to help and better others. Loved epic poetry, cherished books and was an avid reader and together with his late wife Nada, established The Serbian National Library here in Chicago to promote Serbian culture and encourage Serbian children to preserve their language and identity. He also founded with his family The Holy Mother of God Three Handed International Literary Award for the poets and writers of the Eastern Orthodox Faith. Together with his wife and whole family suffered from Yugoslav communist regime in his homeland of Serbia and here in the U.S.A. where he emigrated with his wife in 1966 and was a Chicago resident since. Milun was a member of various Serbian organizations. Visitation on Sunday, August 7 from 5 to 9 p.m. with Memorial Services (Pomen) at 6 p.m. at the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Holy Resurrection, 3062 W. Palmer Square, Chicago. A Reception (Daca) will be served after service at the church hall. Interment will be in his beloved homeland of Serbia, where he will be resting in peace under the Serbian skies. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ivanka Milosevich Foundation, 731 W. Junior Terrace, Chicago, IL, 60613, which will be greatly appreciated and used for various Serbian charitable causes.
