Ann Muller Obituary

Ann Muller, 78 of Chagrin Falls, Ohio since 2004, died Dec 4, 2013. Mrs. Muller, a native of Michigan, was a Chicago writer, activist, and volunteer. Her book, Parents Matter, Parents' Relationships with Lesbian Daughters and Gay Sons, was published in 1987, and she wrote a syndicated column about her family for gay newspapers from 1986 to 1989. She testified on behalf of gay rights legislation in both Springfield and Chicago, Illinois, and in 1981 was one of the first three parents ever to march in Chicago's gay pride parade. Mrs. Muller also did volunteer work with people with AIDS from 1987 to 1991. "She had a strong sense of family and a quiet courage," said her husband Herman, of more than 60 years, who survives her. Other survivors include a daughter, Lori (Tarif) Zaim of Chagrin Falls; a son Jason (Antoine Couture) of Cleveland; and granddaughters Sarah (Ahmad Alkuda), Nadia, and Hannah Zaim. A memorial is planned for Jan 19 from 1 - 5 at her home. Donations to Hospice of the Western Reserve would be appreciated.

Dear Muller Family,
I never met your Ann Muller, but her obituary tells me that she was a courageous person who spoke out when others were afraid to do so.
My thoughts are with you in your loss.

Ann was a model for me of the way to face a new adversity: read everything, study everything about the "problem" and then teach others what you learn. Just face it head on with love for those who count!
