Note you wrote before leaving for the hospital on May 28, 2016, in the early am, for 6 days of chemo prior to your allogenic (donor) stem cell transplant taking place on June 3, 2016. The transplant grafted overnight on June 19-20, 2016.

Our beautiful Monica, our angel Monica, keeping watch on all who love and miss you today and everyday.
As you well know, your Baby Girl/Chica/Kaitlyn turned 21 this past Monday. It was a glorious day 21 years ago that brought added joy, love and happiness into your life.
Nine years ago this past Monday, you received your diagnosis of NHL. That news was a punch in the gut, but you didn't give up, you fought back for the next three years. You were strong, fighting to stay alive for your family, your children. Your children, who your life revolved around.
Cherished memories of you bring smiles to our faces. In honor of you, Rachael chose Monica for her Confirmation name.
Please continue to keep watch in this World gone crazy. Please ask Lonnie, Jr. to do the same.

A week or more before your passing, as you laid in your hospital bed, you asked me if I could see what you called lighted specs that looked like steam rising up from your covers. I replied, "no I didnt".
A few days after that, you spoke to your puppy in heaven saying off, Spencer.
A day or so later, you held your pointer finger up in the air and said, not yet. I asked, "who are you saying not yet to"? You replied, Lonnie and Grandma.
As I sat in the chair watching you sleep, the night before you passed, I too saw the lighted specs that looked like steam rising up from your covers.
The solace from these occurrences is without words. They are confirmation that when its our time to leave this earthly home, our family of Angels come for us to guide us to our eternal home where we will be all together again.
Three years have passed, but the heartbreak lasts. You are missed so much and have left a void that will never be filled.

Our loving Monica...aka Monnie7,
With all the number 7's you had in your life; we know, you had a hand in the 17 minute rain delay during the final game of the 2016 World Series game; allowing the Cubs to re-group, resume the game and win the World Series.
This year 2017, game 5 of National League Division Series with the Washington Nationals, relief pitcher Wade DAVIS # 71 struck out Bryce Harper to take the Cubs to the National League Championship series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Coincidence? Not... it was our Angel Monnie7 at work.
Thank you to Amy K. for the beautiful tribute brick she did in memory of you, that wound up in the "Fly The W" - The Official Book Of The Chicago Cubs - 2016 Cubs World Champions.

Sometimes you don't realize how short of a time a person will be in your life until they gone and you never had the chance to tell them thank you for all the love and memories they have given to you. Not because you didn't realize the gift of love and friendship they gave to you but because you always thought you would still have many more years to tell them.
You were taken way too soon and my heart still aches when I recall past memories but then I smile because I am thankful for every memory I have of you. You will continue to live forever in my heart.

One very sad year has passed since you took your last breath. The seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months that brought us to a year, has not eased the grief or pain.
Things are different than you would have thought them to be. It is what it is, as mind blowing as it may be.
As long as we are alive, you will remain safely tucked away and protected in our hearts, we will keep your light shining bright day after day.
No matter what the future brings, or what may lie ahead, we know that you will be with us each and every step.

To wish you this life out of order birthday is so difficult to do. I prayed for God to take me instead of you.
Wish that you were here today to sing the infamous horrible rendition of the Happy Birthday song to you; to see you smile when you blow out your candles and make the wish just for you.
Loved you before you were born, loved you through your life more than life itself, love you today with a love that won't fade away because God called you away.
You live in my heart and memories; I see you in my dreams. While asking God, time after time, why it had to be this way?
Angels will gather round you to brighten up your day. Lonnie and Grandma will hold you tight and wipe any tears away. Spencer will trot by for a quick game of fetch. These are the angels you were speaking with, during your final days, and when I asked whom you were talking to, you named them by name. You put your finger in the air and spoke the words not yet. They will keep you close to help you cope, if needed. Maybe I'm wrong which I hope and pray that I am. Maybe heaven's a place where you don't give a damn.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day. Giving thanks wasn't something we could do.
Ross, Nicole & family hosted and prepared a delicious feast, we gathered around the dining room table, said Grace and we ate.
The void & the pain in the hearts were abundant. You in heaven; Mike & kids at Disney World for KJ's Marching Band's Thanksgiving Day performance.
With heavy hearts and tear filled eyes we send hugs & kisses to the sky to both you & Lonnie.

I was saddened to hear about Monica's passing. Knowing her for over 30 years and becoming friends with Mike along the way. My wife Tina and I will pray for all the family members.
Monnie was taken to soon. It was a privilege to be her friend. Mike, Monnie and myself had some wonderful times together.

Monica and Mike, I have so many memories of both of you with Kathy and Bill. I am so sorry this happened. Monica you were a fighter. I think you learned it from Kath. Mike, now you and Bill have something in common as best friends that is both sad and ironic. But I know it will strengthen your bond of friends even now more than ever. I think the best way to Honor Monica from this point forward is to be as good to yourself as possible. That's what Kath always told me when I asked what else I could do for her. Oh Monnie, Saying goodbye is going to be so hard. Knowing you has been such a blessing to me. You showed me how to be a fighter. You were the champion! You fought so hard!
