Dorothy Brew nee Treece, age 99, of Glenview and formerly of Northfield, died Monday, December 11, 2017. Beloved wife of 69 years to the late Charles A. Brew. Loving mother of Marjorie McClure, Patricia Brew (Patrick Sullivan), Charles A. Brew, Jr, Steve (Ruthie) Brew, Rick Brew (Kevin Gallager), and Russ (Linnet) Brew. Dear grandmother of Jim, Tess, Angie, Erin, Christina, Kathy, Daniel, Matthew, Michael, Kendell, and Julia. Proud great grandmother of Shasha, Raychel, Sarah, Devon, William, Amelie, Jack, Thomas, Jade. Fond great great grandmother of Kali. Dorothy passed on as she lived her life, peacefully and quietly. It was those same qualities that made her an ideal mother to her children and a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Charlie. Dorothy set the standard for the wives of her generation, welcoming her husband back from The Great War and then raising the Baby Boom generation. Whether serving a home cooked dinner every night for her large family or planning and executing holiday gatherings even larger, all done to perfection. Away from the home she excelled as a bridge player in a number of groups and was an excellent bowler. She also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family including Sunday outings with Charlie. Dorothy also volunteered her help to organizations her family was involved with as well as community services. Dorothy and Charlie's lasting accomplishment was the creation of the Charles and Dorothy Brew Foundation that supported many charities but primarily research into Alzheimer's Disease, a very personal cause for both of them. Dorothy's lasting legacy will be the manner in which she lived her life. She taught by example, and the lesson was how to be a good person; to fulfill your responsibilities to your utmost with love and care; not to criticize but to demonstrate appropriate conduct; to see the good in all people; and that no fault is too great not to be forgiven and forgotten. She was the easiest person to know and the easiest to love. Dorothy will never be replaced but forever missed by those who knew her. She was a lovely lady. A Class act. Devoted to her family. I'm glad I got to know her. I hope she's at peace. Her faith was strong - I'm sure she's at peace.

Our condolences to the Brew family. Dottie was always gracious and was so kind to take us under her wing when we were new members at Sunset Ridge all those many years ago. May wonderful memories surround you as you send her to eternal peace.
Fondly, Teri and Craig Colmar
