BLANCHE P. VARLEY
Blanche P. Varley passed quietly on Aug. 5, 2012 at Prestige, her Chico residence. Blanche was born March 21, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Annie and Will Poulton. She attended schools in Salt Lake and graduated from West High School in 1932.
In 1935, she married Lynn G. Varley. They lived briefly in Imley, NV, Boise and Pocatella, ID. In 1947, they bought a family store, gas station and trailer park in Milford, CA. Moving to Susanville, CA in 1955, Blanche worked for the Lassen High School District for 5 years. After settling in Chico in 1962, Blanche worked for the City of Chico, working as secretary to the Chief of Police. Retirement came in 1977 when she traveled and became a woman of leisure.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn in 1982 and her grandson, Keith Varley in 2003. She is survived by her two sons, Bob (Helen) of Lincoln, CA and Denny (Carol) of Chico; 3 grandchildren, Debby (Dave) Lundberg of Chico, Mike (Nadine) of Pt. Reyes and Scott Varley of Long Beach; 3 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsey Lundberg and Max Varley.
A Memorial Service will be at Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway in Chico on August 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested contributions may be made in memory of Blanche to the Keith Varley Memorial Scholarship, in care of Brusie's.
