RICHARD M. GILLEY Richard was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on January 20,1916 to Mance and Annabell Gilley. He passed away on June 21,2014 in Chico at the age of 98. In May of 1939 he married L. Gerie Anderson and in 1941 the couple joined the great exodus from Oklahoma to California with their 2 month old daughter, Lavon and settled in Durham. In 1946 they bought their home in which they raised two daughters. Richard worked for E.L.Adams Ranch for many years. After his retirement, he loved working in his vegetable gardens with his many varieties of fruit trees. Richard is survived by one daughter, Doris Owen and husband Donald Owen of Chico and son in law Donald Becker of Paradise. He was blessed with five grandchildren, LaDonna Foley {Patrick}, Cheyenne, Wy, Charlene Levering {Kelly}, Davis, Ca. ; John Owen, Dayton, Ca; David Owen {Denese}, Gerber, Ca.; and Jennifer Hargis {Glenn}, Durham and nine great grandchildren and a brother Clayton Gilley {Marie}, Oklahoma City, Ok. Richard and Gerie had 72 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2011. His daughter, Lavon, preceded him in death in 2009. A graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening June 26, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at Bidwell Chapel. 341 W. 3rd St. in Chico. Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home and online condolences can be sent to the family at www.brusiefh.com.

So sorry to hear of Doris' loss, as she was a schoolmate one year ahead of me at Durham High. Rode the bus hundreds of times with here and Lavon and the Lindahls and Summers and many other nearby neighbors.
