Rosemarie (Knoetzsch) Brandt(1933 - 2014)

ROSEMARIE BRANDT Rosemarie Brandt (Knoetzsch) was born in Guatemala, Central America, 1933, and went to be with her Lord on April 3, 2014 in Chico CA. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Guatemala City, by a German Lutheran Pastor. Rosie's parents, Martin and Martha Knoetzsch, were both of German decent. She had two older brothers, and a younger sister and brother. Rosie grew up in a multi-cultural society composed of German heritage in her home, relatives, and friends, and Spanish culture in schools and the community. She developed lasting friendships in both cultures. After graduating from high school in 1950, Rosie entered Valparaiso University in Indiana, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. In 1953 she met Jerry Brandt who was studying Mechanical Engineering also at Valparaiso University. After graduation, they were married in 1955 in Guatemala, Central America. For five years BC (before children) Rosie worked at hospitals in Santa Monica, CA, Tulsa, OK, and later in Lancaster, CA. In the 1980's she spent 10 years as a Medical Laboratory Technician for a private doctor. After 1961 when her first child was born (she had one son and two daughters), Rosie quit working so she could dedicate her whole life to raising and caring for her family. She spent every waking moment for her children. Under God's direction, all three of her children, Randy, Laurie, and Krista, married wonderful Christian spouses, are raising lovely families in Rosie's footsteps, and have given her eight God-pleasing grandchildren. Rosie and Jerry lived in Lancaster, CA, while Jerry worked at Edwards Air Force Base, for 35 years. They both retired in 1991 and in 1995 they moved to Chico, CA, to be closer to their children and their families. She was always active in her church in voice and bell choirs, LWML, Bible classes, and most events of the church and church School. Rosie is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry, three children and eight grandchildren, all living in Northern California. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church.
