AGNES AYLEENE KIRKPATRICK HINZ Agnes Ayleene Kirkpatrick Hinz, 97 a member of a pioneer family in the Orland area passed away 11/30/2015 she lived almost her entire life in Orland. Ayleene was the granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson Kirkpatrick II, who crossed the plains in a covered wagon and settled in the area in 1856. In 1859, he married Margaret Rachel Ashurst in Stony Creek. The family ranched and farmed on several thousand acres of land west of Orland. Ayleen's parents were Joseph Laban Kirkpatrick and Alice Emily Steele Kirkpatrick. Her mother passed away and her father continued to live near Orland except for a 5 year period when the family moved to Oregon. Ayleene graduated from Orland High School in 1936. On December 26, 1941 she married Fred Hinz who preceded her in death. During WWII while Fred served with distinction with the Army in Europe, Ayleene cared for their infant son, Daniel, her extended family and worked at her sister Genevieve's restaurant in Orland. In later years she worked for the Orland Unified district as a teacher's aide, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. To that job she brought all of her experiences in raising four boys. Ayleene was long time member of the Rebekah Lodge in Orland, holding each of the leadership positions serveral times over the years. she also took a trip to England and Scottland when she was 80 years old to visit the homeland of her ancestors. Ayleene was preceded in death by siblings Margaret A. Gates, Theodore Kirkpatrick, Ethelyn Kelly, Genevieve Caldwell and half brother, Leslie Dowding. She is survifed by Sons, Daniel Albert of Cody, Wy., Arthur Allen of Orland, Michael Lee and Dennis Ray both of Yuba City, 7 grandchildren, Markees, Jonathan, Mary, Kathleen, Danielle, Stefan, Anna Victoria and Gabrielle Johannah Hinz, 7 great -grandchildren, and several nices and nephews. Services will be held at F. D. Sweet & Son Mortuary, Orland, CA Monday 12/7/2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Graves Cemetery, Orland, CA. Donations can be made to the Orland Volunteer Fire Dept in C/O F.D Sweet & Son Mortuary
