LT. COL. ALBERT JOHN JACK DUNSTAN Lt. Col. Albert John "Jack" Dunstan, USAF retired, passed away at his home in Chico on March 3, 2016. He was nine days shy of his 94th birthday. Jack was born in Rockford, IL, on March 12th, 1922. He was a bomber pilot in WWII, flying 44 missions in an A-20 attack bomber. After the war, he continued as a pilot in the USAF until he had 27 years in service before retiring in 1967 and moving to Oroville in 1972. During these years, he flew KC-97 refueling planes and B-47 bombers. Jack and his family were stationed in Chicago, IL; Manchester, NH; Moses Lake, WA; Portland, OR; West Palm Beach, FL; Salina, KA; Mtn. Home, ID; and Riverside, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas (born in Hazelton, PA) and Hilda Hare Dunstan (born in Truro, Cornwall, England); his sisters, Kathleen Dunstan Bendt (born in Truro, Cornwall, England) and Isabel Dunstan Meiborg (born in Rockford, IL). He was also preceded in death in 1969 by his first wife, Lucille Mayer Dunstan (born in Bern, WI), in 2001 by his second wife, Charline McCann Dunstan (born in Tombstone, AZ), and in 2015 by his third wife, Betty Vaughan Dunstan. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Dunstan of Chico; his son, Steve Dunstan aka Nine Green of Upper Lake, CA; his step-son, Terry McCann of San Tan Valley, AZ; his step-daughter, Kathy McCann Squier of Ridgecrest, CA; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild (on the way). Memorial service arrangements are pending at Oroville Evangelical Free Church. Burial with full military honors will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Riverside, CA in the fall. At his request, he will rest between his first and second wives.
