Anne Jeanette Neveau Obituary
ANNE JEANETTE NEVEAU Our beloved Matriarch left this world peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 20, 2013. She loved life and lived it on her own terms, always quick witted, opinionated and loving; she had advice for everyone whether requested or not! Anne was born to Nettie and Salvatore (Sam) Lombardi on July 9, 1918, in Duluth, Minnesota, the second child of nine. She went to Central High School in Duluth, and spent a couple of years in college. Later she met and married Chester Neveau on July 31, 1941. Initially, he was in the U.S. Air Force, so they had to move a lot; during this time they had their first two of four children. In 1946 they decided to move to Southern California, where their "second family" was born. They settled in Torrance for several years then moved to the City of Orange, where Anne lived for 50 years; briefly she lived in Apple Valley near her son Richard, and then in April 2009 she moved to Chico, to be near her daughter Jeanne. She lived at Sycamore Glen, and being a social person, she really enjoyed it. Playing poker, bingo, and going on outings to the nearby casinos, shopping and restaurants was perfect for her. She made many friends there. Her family was by far the most important thing in Anne's life; she was a Brownie Leader, a Little League fan and a room mother; she sewed clothes for her daughters, and doll clothes for their dolls. She worked for the Star-Kist Fish Cannery in San Pedro, CA in the early 1950s, and later she worked at Sears for 15 years until retiring in 1983. Anne's favorite pastimes included gardening, gambling, and traveling. Due to the family enthusiasm for car racing, Anne became a fan too, especially when her son Ray or grandsons went racing! She did get to go to Italy with two of her sisters, and she never stopped talking about how much she enjoyed their trip. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Chester; her son Richard, her grandson David; her great- granddaughter Erica; her parents; her sisters Mary, Minnie, and Lucy, and her brothers Benny and Jimmy and step-grandson Don Boyd. She is survived by her sisters Kristy Welch, Mae Dixon and Theresa Sundstrom; her daughters Sharon Hulbert (Dennis) and Jeanne Smith (Donald), and her son Raymond Neveau (Cheri); daughter-in-law Sharon Neveau; granddaughters Suzanne Neveau (Jeff Wiley), Shannon Winsborough, Georgianna Neveau, Cynthia Vierra (Thomas), Kendyll Neveau and Caylee Neveau; grandsons Darren Hulbert (Cheryl), Jason Mayhugh, Kyle Neveau and Corey Neveau. Her great-granddaughters are Savannah McAlpine, Kaitlin McMillan Mayhugh, Kristin Vierra, Grace Hulbert and Candace Hulbert; great grandsons are Samuel Hulbert, Casey Vierra, and Daniel Hulbert. Her step-granddaughters are Cindy Roth (Richard), Robin Anderson Neveau, Lisa Price (John), Andrea Smith, Chandler Rabens, and step-grandsons are Dan Boyd (Beth), Jason Smith and Robert Rabens. A celebration of Anne's life will be held at Sycamore Glen at 1199 Diablo Ave, Chico, CA 95973, in the theater at 2:30pm on Thursday, April 4, 2013. There will be a graveside ceremony on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00pm at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, CA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Anne's favorite charity, the Disabled Veterans National Foundation. You may share your thoughts and memories of Anne online at NewtonBracewell.com.
