Arlen William Merrin Obituary
ARLEN WILLIAM MERRIN Arlen William Merrin a long time resident and business owner of Paradise California ascended peacefully on July 22, 2017. Born April 28, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to his traveling evangelical pastor father Raymond Merrin and devout Christian mother Evelyn Berger Merrin, Arlen experienced an exciting childhood traveling the country until settling in Sacramento for most of his youth. After his military service in the Navy in Southern California he met his wife of 51 years, Linda Mae Schreiner on a blind date. He and Linda returned to Sacramento and built a successful RV business with Arlen's father and had three children Diana, Julie and Darryl Merrin. Arlen's ever the wandering spirit and desire for a quieter life to raise their children led them to hit the road investigating Northern Calif. & Oregon finally settling in Paradise, California in 1976(?). He and his wife established and ran Arlin's RV on Clark Road for 30 years and built lifetime relationships with many cherished friends. One of his favorite pastimes was wheeling in the high lakes and he loved playing the guitar and teaching his children to play and sing. After retiring Arlen and Linda were on the road again in a motor home for eleven years seeing 46 states and a great deal of Canada. Along the way they had many adventures, made some lasting friendships, and got to visit their children and seven grandchildren often. Arlen is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda; children Diana Merrin-Moudry of Arvada Ct., CO; Julie Altig (Will) of LIncoln University, PA and Darryl Merrin (Shelley) who resides in Paradise, CA; seven grandchildren; sister Darlene Noffisnger (Jim) and many nices and nephews whom he loved dearly. If you wish, you may donate to the Feather River Health Foundation to benefit Hospice. Linda and her family would like to welcome family and friends to a celebration of Arlen's life on August 12th at 2 p.m at 8439 Montna Drive in Paradise. Please call (530) 680-3764 for information.
