Arthur Hinz Obituary
ARTHUR HINZ Arthur Allen Hinz, 72 of Orland, CA, passed away on September 28, 2018 in Chico, CA. Arthur "Art" was born in Willows, CA. on August 10, 1946 to Fred and Ayleene Hinz. Art attended school in Orland, CA, earned his Associate of Arts from Shasta College, and attended Chico State University. Art served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972. During his service in Vietnam, Art was an artillery survey specialist, and was awarded many accommodations including the Army Commendation Medal. Following his service with the United States Army, Art became involved with the VFW post in Orland, Ca. where he most recently served as Commander. Additionally, Art was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America organization. Both organizations were very dear to Art, each allowing him to advocate for and support his brothers in arms. Following his service in the United States Army, Art worked for several years as a manager with Straw Hat Pizza where he lived in both the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas. Art eventually returned to Orland where he worked for Poly Riser and Pipe for over 25 years. In addition to his work and involvement with the VVA and VFW, Art was an avid baseball and football fan. Given the chance, he would take every opportunity to catch a baseball game, especially to watch his beloved San Francisco Giants and local Chico Heat. His gentle spirit, broad smile, and witty sense of humor will be missed by all that had the honor to know him. Art is preceded in death by his father Fred, and his mother Ayleene. He is survived by his brothers Daniel A. Hinz, Cody Wyoming, Michael L. Hinz, Yuba City, Ca., and Dennis R. Hinz (Leann) of Yuba City, Ca., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA, Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 am. Following the service, a gathering will be held at 1:00 pm at the Chico Veterans Memorial Hall, 554 Rio Lindo, Chico, Ca. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to: Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 582, PO Box 3070, Paradise, Ca. 95967, or VFW Post 1992 (Kenneth C Morrissey Post), 320 Third Street, Orland, CA. 95963. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Lakeside Colonial Chapel in Marysville, CA.
