August Kuentz Obituary
AUGUST KUENTZ 1913-2018 Longtime resident of Paradise, CA died on Jan. 4th. At the time of death he was a resident of Atria Assisted Living in Paradise. August was born in San Antonio, Texas and was a member of a pioneer Texas family. He was orphaned at a young age and joined the Army Air Corps in 1938. He served during World War II and afterwards was stationed in Germany during the occupation. he also served in Indochina with the French and was stationed in Hanoi during the French occupation of Vietnam. He was very proud of being the crew chief of the XC-99, the largest airplane in the world in the early 50's. August retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1962 and moved to Paradise, CA. His wife Thelma died in 2007 after 66 years of marriage. He is survived by three sons, Robert Fest, Alan Kuentz, Ronald Kuentz; many grand children and great grandchildren. Burial will be at Skyway Memorial Park in Magalia, Jan. 12 at 2pm. A viewing will be at Rose Chapel on Clark Rd. in Paradise 10-11 on Jan. 12, family only.
