Bernice Garber DeForest Obituary
BERNICE GATHER DEFOREST Bea went to her heavenly home on July 9, 2013. Bea was born March 4, 1921 in Virginia, Missouri. She married Jack DeForest August 12, 1939. She has lived in Paradise, CA for the last 35 years. Bea was a homemaker and caregiver to her daughter, Patricia Moore. Bea was anxious to be reunited with her husband, daughter, grandson, sister, brothers, mother, father and various other family and friends that have gone on before her. Bea is survived by her nephews; Skip (Nadine), Gary, and Mike (Gail) Garber and her niece Janis Peltier. I also count it as an honor to be survived by Bea, even though we had no blood ties. She always considered me and my husband, children and grandchildren as her family. The following is a tribute to my dear sweet friend Bea from my daughter Cynthi Law. "This sweet woman with her arm around me has been in my life since I was a little girl. I remember her through birthday parties, craft fairs, afternoon playtimes and yes even my wedding. She loved my mom like a daughter and my brother and sisters and me like her own grandchildren. She was funny, I mean hysterically funny. She loved her husband and her daughter Pat. She never stopped grieving her grandson Mike but she chose forgiveness rather than bitterness. This morning she went to be with her Creator. No more pain or suffering. She is reunited with her family and in the presence of Jesus. I am grateful that someday I will be there with her too. As I'm typing this I look down at the ring on my finger. It is the first ring Jack gave her. It makes me happy to think of just how special she was and how loved she is. We love you Bea. I know we'll see you again so I will just say till then sweet friend." A special thanks to all the wonderful people at Hospice House in Paradise where Bea spent her last 6 months of life. You were more than kind towards her. I know you will also miss her. Thanks for always sharing funny stories with us about Bea's great outlook on life. We appreciate your wonderful care of our dear friend. Bea requested when I write this obituary for her that I include, "She was a good old girl". And indeed she was. I love you Bea and I miss you. Save me a front row seat in heaven. Your friend .....Sue Holt No public service will be held as of Bea' s request. A private service and scattering ashes at sea will be held in Fort Bragg in August.
