Obituary Condolences

Betty May (Kuhn) Olson, 90, died July 28, 2008 of long term problems caused by irradiation for cancer 31 years ago. She was born March 29, 1918 in Akron, Ohio to Robert Dale Kuhn and Ethel May (Overmier) Kuhn.

The family moved to Southern California in 1921, settling in Arcadia where her father worked as a butcher until his death in 1927. Betty attended Monrovia-Arcadia-Duarte (MAD) High School where she met her future husband at the age of 14. After a four year courtship, Betty married Clarence "Howard" Olson at Chapel Inn in Duarte CA, July 2, 1937. After her children reached adulthood, Betty worked as an executive secretary at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, CA until she and Howard moved to Chico in 1980. Howard passed away in 1999, after 62 years of marriage. Betty was active in the Chico Lady Elks for several years and served as vice president and had been a member of the Chico Eagles Lodge.

Betty is survived by two sons, Howard "Dale" and Timothy Vern, both who reside in Chico; five grandchildren, Timothy Olson (Chico), Pamela DeLapp (Quincy, CA), Catherine Olson (Chico), James Olson (Langley, VA) and Victoria Olson (Stockton, CA) and 11 great-grandchildren.
