BLANCHE ELAINE SWITHENBANK Blanche Swithenbank longtime Chico resident gracefully passed away on May 20, 2015. She was 105 plus years old and was preceded in death by her husband Alton and her brother Alex. Blanche was born in West Point, CA on October 22, 1909 to Artie and Winnie Wilson. She spent her childhood growing up in the mountains of Calaveras County and graduated from Stockton High School after which she attended and graduated from Heald Business College, Sacramento. While in Sacramento she married Alton F. Swithenbank who was also from the West Point area and was best friend of Alex, Blanche's brother. While married to Alton they moved to DeSabla, CA and then to Chico in 1940. She was a lifetime member of Josephine Chico Chapter no.104 order of Eastern Star and member of Chico Nile Club. Blanche and Al raised three sons in Chico Gene ( Beverly) Raymond (Kathy ) and Robert ( Fran ) and was grandmother of Patty; Michael; Joseph; Laura; Alicia; Heather; Wendy; Scott; Bill; Gary; Nick; Wade and Kit, twenty-seven great -grandchildren and six great - great grandchildren. Blanche loved her family and her brother's family dearly, she was the most loving, supportive and inspirational woman that ever lived and all that knew her felt this way. She resided at Townsend House Assisted Living and thought very highly of Mike and his staff where she received great care. Services will be on May 27, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Brusie Funeral Home followed by committal service at Glen Oaks Memorial Park, Chico. A reception and celebration of life will be at the Chico Masonic Family Center at 2:30 pm. Condolences may be sent on line at Bruise FH .com
